What Are Durand Dollars?
Durand Dollars are a local gift-certificate-style program designed to keep spending within our community and support Durand's businesses. They can be purchased at Security Financial Bank in set increments of $5, $10, and $25.
How Do Durand Dollars Work?
1. Purchase
Buy Durand Dollars at Security Financial Bank. You will receive an official certificate for the amount purchased.
2. Use at Participating Businesses
The certificate can be redeemed at any participating Durand business.
When redeemed, the customer must sign the certificate.
The business accepting it must also sign it before depositing it.
3. Deposit Like a Check
Participating businesses should treat Durand Dollars just like a check when depositing them at their bank.
Cash Back Policy
Each business decides how to handle situations where a customers purchase is less than the amount of the Durand Dollars certificate.
Some businesses do not give cash back and require the certificate to be used in full during a single transaction.
Other businesses may choose to give cash back for the remaining balance.
One participating business applies any remaining balance to the customers account for future use instead of providing cash back.
